How the System Works

The rainwater is collected within a water butt. From here a special pump will empty the water butt when it is full to a larger storage tank. The size of this larger tank depends on how many square meters of beds you have for watering. It also depends on how much space you have available.

From this larger tank another pump will push the water around the irrigation system to the required areas. A tap can be fitted next to the larger tank and the irrigation system is then fitted to that. Timers can control the system and sensors can be installed to detect rainfall so that the system switches off to help save your stored rainwater.

The system can incorporate existing water butts and irrigation systems.

If you are limited for space then there are various designs of water butts available that will help you store your rainwater.
